Today is the deadline for Georgia residents to register to vote for the November 5th election, which will feature the presidential race and a variety of federal, state, and local contests. The early voting period begins on October 15, giving registered voters a chance to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.
To ensure you’re ready to vote, Georgia residents are encouraged to check their voter registration status. This can be done online through the My Voter Page on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website. Here, voters can verify if their registration is active and confirm their polling location.
If you’re not yet registered, there’s still time to submit a voter registration application. The process can be completed online, by visiting your local county election office, or by mailing in an application (must be postmarked by today). A valid Georgia driver’s license or an ID from the Georgia Department of Driver Services is required for registration. Submitting an application by today ensures eligibility for the upcoming election, though final approval comes from your county election board.
For voters who find their registration has expired, the solution is simple: file a new application, which will reactivate your voter status. Additionally, if you’ve recently moved, be sure to update your voter registration with your new address. This can be done by submitting a new application as well.
All necessary forms and further instructions are available online through the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.
