A violent incident at a Marietta apartment complex late Wednesday night resulted in a high-speed pursuit and the arrest of six men on felony charges, according to Marietta police.
Officers responded to gunfire reported around 10 p.m. at the Lakeside at Town Center apartments, located off Williams Drive near Canton Road. Upon arrival, law enforcement found that two men had been shot and multiple bullets had struck residential buildings and vehicles in the area.
Shortly after the incident, witnesses informed police that the individuals involved had fled the scene in a black BMW sedan. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated, initiating a pursuit that ended in a crash near Polk Street and Mountain View Road. The car struck a utility pole and overturned.
Six men were taken into custody at the scene. Inside the vehicle, officers recovered four firearms — including three handguns and one rifle. Around the same time, two men arrived at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with gunshot wounds believed to be connected to the same incident. Both were treated and released.
Following interviews and further investigation, police confirmed that all six individuals inside the BMW were linked to the shooting. They now face serious charges, including Aggravated Assault with Intent to Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. All six are being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
The suspects have been identified as Artavious Corley, 19, of Marietta; Charles Elliot, 20, of Canton; Arthur Stanley, 18, of Marietta; Dorian Santos, 18, of Canton; Arshad Head, 23, of Dallas; and Alexander Gonzalez-Mendoza, 18, of Canton.
