The Roswell community will gather today to pay tribute to Officer Jeremy Labonte, who was shot and killed while responding to a call last Friday. A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Roswell United Methodist Church, with a procession departing from Lebanon Baptist Church at 1:45 p.m. Residents are encouraged to line the route in a show of support.
Labonte’s squad car has been transformed into a memorial site, adorned with flowers and messages from community members mourning his loss. His funeral service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person, with viewing locations available at Roswell City Hall, Roswell Cultural Arts Center, and Bill Johnson Community Center. The livestream can be found here.
Labonte, 24, was responding to a call at the King Market shopping center on Market Boulevard when he was fatally shot. He had been a member of the Roswell Police Department since November 2021 and served as a night shift patrol officer. He is survived by his wife.
The Roswell Police Department and Friends of Roswell Police have set up an official fund through PayPal to collect donations for Labonte’s family. Community members who wish to contribute are encouraged to donate through this authorized platform.
As Roswell mourns the loss of a dedicated officer, residents continue to show their support through memorials, tributes, and a strong presence at today’s funeral service.
