On Monday, January 6th, the Honorable Robert D. Leonard II, superior court judge of the Cobb Judicial Circuit, officially administered the oath of office to Mark Cheatham, naming him Acworth’s new Chief of Police. The event took place during a ceremony attended by Cheatham’s family and other distinguished guests.
Chief Cheatham expressed his gratitude to his family, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, the Acworth community, and the City Team for their unwavering support in helping him achieve what he described as the highest honor of his professional career. He also recognized the contributions of his predecessors—former Acworth Police Chiefs Michael Wilkie, Wayne Dennard, and Jesse Evans—who were present at the event, acknowledging their leadership and dedication to the department.
The swearing-in ceremony highlighted a pivotal moment for the city, ushering in a new era of leadership for their police department.
