Where is our President?

The question has endured ever since the world first heard rumor of a medical emergency in Las Vegas followed by a COVID diagnosis. Then something unprecedented happened. Just as the campaign was entering the final months, President Joe Biden announced he would no longer seek reelection.

He did not do it on television or radio. There was no address to the nation. Instead, the announcement was posted on Twitter and the President’s signature was auto penned.

Afterwards, the first time Americans would hear from the President himself was July 24 when he addressed the nation in a stumbling speech full of non sequiturs and mirroring his unsettling debate performance.

In the subsequent weeks, Americans have heard sparingly from the President. He has made very few appearances with his former running mate, choosing to campaign in Maryland and Pennsylvania with his current Vice President.

Republicans continue to hammer Democrats with questions regarding President Biden’s fitness to serve and the ensuing cover-up regarding his mental state. Ohio Senator and Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance called it a “political sucker punch.”

“You’re right,” Speaker of the House Mike Johnson told Laura Ingraham in an appearance on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. “It’s the biggest political cover-up that we have ever seen maybe in US history, and it’s the most consequential, as well.”

Just last week, President Biden held his first Cabinet meeting in almost a year but surprisingly turned control of the meeting over to America’s First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden.

Earlier this week, President Biden appeared on the popular television show The View as a guest host. Combined with giving his final address to the United Nations General Assembly, his series of stops has been coined his “goodbye tour”. With inauguration day still 115 days away, the American public has been left wondering – who is running the country
