Cobb Public Library Releases Reading List for Global Diversity Awareness Month

The Cobb Public Library is celebrating Global Diversity Awareness Month by publishing a diverse reading list that caters to readers of all ages. The list highlights books that focus on inclusivity, cultural awareness, and the celebration of differences, offering a range of titles for children, teens, and adults.

For younger readers, the library recommends picture books such as All Are Neighbors by Alexandra Penfold, Goodnight Racism by Ibram X. Kendi, and Hair Twins by Raakhee Mirchandani. These selections explore themes of community, acceptance, and identity in a way that is engaging and accessible to children.

Children and preteens can also dive into chapter books like Dream, Annie, Dream by Waka Brown and Maizy Chen’s Last Chance by Lisa Yee, which address the importance of understanding and embracing cultural diversity through captivating stories.

For teens, novels such as The Black Kids by Christina Hammonds Reed and We Deserve Monuments by Jas Hammonds explore race, identity, and belonging, providing an impactful way for young adults to engage with complex issues.
