The Cobb County Youth Commission is now taking applications for its 2024-2025 program. Those wishing to apply must be a high school student in grades 9 through 11. This initiative provides a chance for young individuals to learn about the functions of local government and participate in civic engagement. It also helps students develop leadership skills, positioning them to become change-makers within their communities.
The deadline to submit applications, along with a letter of recommendation, is Friday, Sept. 20, at 5 p.m. Students must secure a recommendation from a teacher, counselor, principal, religious leader, or other community figure who has known the applicant for a minimum of one year.
In addition to gaining firsthand experience in government operations, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their resumes and college applications, making the program a valuable stepping stone for their academic and professional futures.
For those interested, more information including the application can be found here. Unfortunately previous Youth Commissioners are not eligible to apply again.
